Find Out What These 4 Stars Would Never Fly Without: Four Celebrity Travel Tips for Study Abroad

Updated: May 3, 2023

As Hollywood gears up for award season, SBCC students are getting ready to start a new semester of study abroad. So if you and your friends haven't boarded yet, share this blog with them about these celebrities' top travel tips!

Gigi Hadid

Every student who's studied abroad knows the feeling of landing in the airport and rushing to see what's outside those doors. Choosing to travel with only a carry-on will save you time you'll need for creating memories on your trip. Although she's got her own reasons to opt for a speedy airport visit, Gigi Hadid offers great advice for packing light:

"I try to only travel with carry-on at all times," she said."I spend pretty much half my life at the airport, so checking in bags is just going to add more onto that."

Chris Pratt

Take it from Chris Pratt: a long-haul flight is the perfect time to get a head start on school..or sleep. Napping as a form of productivity is something most students should be familiar with, but if you're blessed with a quiet cabin then there's no reason why you shouldn't spend your in-flight time reading class materials or reviewing your syllabus.

"I’ll try to use the time on a long flight to catch up on reading scripts or watching movies. I’ll also sleep too especially if it’s an overnight flight so that I can try to land and have an easier time adjusting to the different time zone."

Kim Kardashian

Excitement? Check. Passport? Check. Toothpaste? Check, but be sure to bag it first! Spilling toiletries in your suitcase can get your study abroad trip off on the wrong foot, so trust that Kim Kardashian's method of bagging every item in her luggage isn't so crazy.

“I also use Ziploc bags for toiletries, so products don’t ruin my clothes if something breaks."

Hugh Jackman

If your flight is too noisy to take Chris Pratt's advice, be sure to have some podcasts downloaded in advance to pass the time. Listening to something can help to pass the time, especially if it's something related to the culture you're going to visit or the classes in your academic adventure.

“I definitely listen to podcasts. I’m a little more into audiobooks, I like to listen to books when I’m on a plane. And I download some [films and TV shows] that I really want to see, and music obviously.”
