Travel Playlist - Italy

We’ve gone to Florence and Rome, Italy, in the past —both absolutely stunning destinations and for most people an absolute dream destination. As we are heading back to Florence in spring and Rome, I thought preparing a playlist for the Bel Baese (Beautiful Country) could be very useful and fun.

There’s no denying that Italy is a place that is romanticized whether in books or movies. It is the center of the Roman Empire and the home of one of the wonders of the world, the Colosseum.

Are you open to new music that will provide an amazing soundtrack while exploring bella italia? Let's start with the list!

Italy:

One of the best composers of all time, Ennio Morricone, has created numerous soundtracks and music for some of the most legendary movies of all time.

“Once Upon a Time in America” is one of them and his bombastic, brilliant, delicate, and simply beautiful soundtrack for this film will always be remembered.

Another song that can’t be missed on this playlist is Sufjan Steven’s “Mystery of Love” from the film “Call Me By Your Name” which is set in Northern Italy in 1983.

Even if it is not Italian or by an Italian artist, everyone who has seen this film knows how stunning, beautiful, and dreamy this song is. Perfect for romanticizing your trip to Italy.

The last song I wanted to mention is in honor of opera singer Luciano Pavarotti. His performance for the iconic piece “Nessun Dorma” is unbelievable. The way he hits the last notes you really feel as if Pavarotti putting his entire soul into the performance.

The next time you’re on the plane for your study abroad trip this playlist will accommodate you for the specific country to travel to. (Disclaimer: There will be songs that are associated with a particular country, but are not strictly in their language.)
